I also tried running a recovery from DOS and it doesn't want to see my backups for some reason. I only tried LAN for a moment. I have a backup policy in my server, that makes a full image. So it's great to have an expert to rely on when the computer decides to stump me.

The username and passoword - yep the usual one on my PC. Other benefits of registering an account are subscribing to topics and forums, creating a blog, and having no ads shown anywhere on the site. it gives you an error "An Internal error occurred while enumerating backup sets". I have a username and a 8 character password (admin access).

Finally, although I don't think this is related to your issue, make sure if you installed the server initially from UEFI (usually from automated installer tools from the vendor) you are I still think this is a network connectivity issue rather than a file permissions thing at this stage.
Every thing is back to normal now and I can see all of my images again. Is 8:00 AM an unreasonable time to meet with my graduate students and post-doc? The Vista disk, however, doesn't. However it won't let me select the account, it says I need to have restore permissions on the folder to change ownership.
I made a backup, replaced the failing hard drive, then booted off a system recovery disk.
